On July 20th, 2023, McKechnie Family LIFE Home hosted Permobil. Permobil is a power wheelchair company that drives to push the boundaries of technology in pursuit of innovations that improve the quality of life of its users. Just as their users’ needs constantly change, they work continuously to tailor their Permobil products to meet their day-to-day reality. This meeting was intended to collaborate and show some of the technology that could assist them in innovating more products to help more people. Permobil was able to visit a few places on the UIUC campus and LIFE Home was one of their stops. They received a tour of the LIFE Home and were very interested in the facility and possibly starting up some new research projects. The LIFE Home staff enjoyed sharing current research projects and collaborating on possible plans for the future!
